No terror link to Nashik blast: R. R. Patil


           The blast killed three persons and injured seven

Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil, on Thursday, denied any terror link to the blast that had ripped through a building in Nashik killing three persons and injuring seven.

"Forensic experts say the blast took place after the the ingredients of firecrackers in a house in the building caught fire. There is no terror link to the incident," Patil said.

Earlier, Nashik police arrested two persons, including son of the prime accused who was killed in the blast, while the third accused is absconding.

"Shakti Gavai, who leased the house to the main accused Manohar Gurunani, a firecrackers manufacturer and his son Amit were arrested in connection with the yesterday's incident," Nashik Police Commissioner Vinod Lokhande said, adding that the third accused, Lalit Paghe, who worked with Manohar, is still absconding.
An FIR was registered against five persons under various IPC sections, including section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance), section 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and relevant sections of the Explosive Substance Act.

The three deceased were identified as Manohar Gurunani, Dyaneshwar Wagh and Ravindra Vishwakarma. Manohar and Dyaneshwar were also cited as accused in the FIR.

Three persons were killed in an explosion inside a house in the three-storeyed Saptashrungi building located at Tarvala Nagar in Panchvati area of Nashik on Wednesday.

The prime accused Manohar, who was killed in the blast, had got a license of manufacturing firecrackers. He had manufacturing units in the district, Lokhande said.

The Maharashtra government had announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh for the kin of those killed in the blast and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
