DMK not to pull out of UPA, Cabinet ministers to stay

The DMK has decided not to pull its ministers out of the UPA government. A meeting of the party chaired by DMK chief M. Karunanidhi has decided to fight all issues related to the 2G spectrum scam legally.

The party has also decided to hold several meetings to explain the party's stand to the people. In a resolution passed after the meeting, the DMK slammed the CBI saying that it had adopted double standards in M.K. Kanimozhi's case.

The party said that the Rs 200 crore-transaction from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV had nothing to do with the 2G scam.

Ahead of the meeting, there was speculation that the DMK may pull out of the government and extend issue-based support to the UPA.

Tensions between the DMK and UPA alliance have been on the rise ever since former telecom minister A. Raja and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi were sent behind bars in the 2G case.

But it was decided that for the moment the party will continue to remain in the government at the Centre.
For the records, Karunanidhi said he was not upset with the Congress over the CBI case against his people.
