HYDERABAD: The BJP on Sunday condemned TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for his statements during the Mahanadu wherein he regretted his association with the NDA government.
Party spokesman Naraparaju Ramchander Rao said Naidu's claim that Muslims had lost faith in TDP after the Godhra carnage was uncalled for as Muslims in Gujarat had already left behind the incident with a `forget and forgive approach'.
"The TDP chief's statement is highly objectionable. Naidu seems to forget that he came to power in 1999 only because of Atal Bihari Vajpayee (with a 24% BJP vote share in Telangana region and 18% BJP vote share in non-Telangana region). Naidu's talk smacks of political betrayal. He lost because of his misdeeds during his tenure. His statements are unfortunate in the era of coalition politics," the party spokesman said.
Blaming Naidu for the current political uncertainty prevailing in the state, Rao alleged that both Congress and TDP were indulging in match-fixing and taking the general public for a ride. "Naidu must take the blame for the current political situation in the state. If he is the leader of opposition, he should prove his sincerity by moving a no-confidence motion against the Congress government and not find reasons to avoid it. In fact, Naidu's recent statements have been made to help the Congress government," Rao said.
